Bree Part 1.

Well as I honestly expected of myself, I already changed my idea. Since the minute my idea left my mouth in the lecture hall I genuinely started to hate it. I thought that the idea began to sound stupid and that it wouldn't turn out the way I had visioned it to be... so I trashed it. I expected myself to do this several times throughout the process which it still very well might, but for now I'm liking this one.
This idea has a photography basis that stems from surrealism, Dada-ism, and concept photography. I was inspired by the work of Jerry Uelsmann, Kyle Thompson, and other similar photographers who dabble in creating their own version of the world. I have always found interest in things that are unusual and represent things that are vaguely abnormal such as people floating in air, being caught in a forest at night with a giant thing lingering behind in the trees, walking through burning doorways, and anything relating to mental health. I did not however want to focus my project on mental health. It feels, to me, like it is a common theme and that I haven't quite found my own personal way to interestingly represent it in a way that is unique and so my mental health project will be put on the back burner.
Anyways, the idea of the project is that I utilize portrait and landscape photography to create new spaces that are almost dream like. You know, weird things that you vaguely remember from your dream last night? Yea, that kind of stuff. Like the previously mentioned ideas such as the thing in the forest or burning belongings and levitation, those ideas will likely be featured in my series. If you have any weird stories about your dreams you would be willing to share with me, please feel free to message, email, or talk to me in person about it because I am interested.
Another idea I maybe wanted to play on within the same process of portrayal is the idea of fears and phobias. Things like fear of the moon, fear of being alone, etc. that can have a pretty understandable visual that can be at free range to portray. Along with this possibly things that cause anxiety. Have any ideas or interesting fears you've heard of? Again, I am interested.
Here are two composite images I made previously that kind of display the idea I am going for. Enjoy.
