Thankfully security has FINALLY given me a lock for my mini darkroom which allows me to work with and leave out light sensitive material without people turning on the light and messing things up.
My work will be on circular wood stumps/slabs that have been found or acquired (see picture below for example). All the stumps will be/are found or cut from dead trees. I am almost done sanding the ones I have collected thus far and only sanded my fingers once( knock on wood). Thank you Burke for being a great resource for pear and cedar tree stumps/slabs.
As for the leaves, after many failed attempts, I have a solid technique down as well as one leaf with a successful image using the Chlorophyll process. (See image below)
Now that I have two solid concepts, I have a better angle on what to photograph.
- Nature reclaiming man made structures-
- I have been traveling to abandoned places. If any of you think of or know of a local abandoned location of any sort, please let me know. So far I have photographed Centralia, an abandoned amusement park, the "Witches Oven," an abandoned industrial park, and an old miner's cemetery. Any suggestions are very much appreciated!
- Identity
- I have yet to begin photographing this concept because I will need volunteers. I am currently writing a questionnaire that will ask the participant questions about; how they are perceived by the general public and how they should be perceived and/or the facade they put up vs. their true self/feelings. I hope to gather enough information from the participants so that I will be able to properly take two photographs of each person that resembles what they described to me in answering the questionnaire. If you would be interested in participating, let me know so that I can message you the questionnaire when completed!!!
- Currently I plan these images to be silhouette to add an heir of mystery/animosity to the participants. Also because I like shooting silhouettes. Though the final result may change as I expand on this idea.
- These images will be on leaves.
