Essentially this is a really, really, really rough draft of the mind set for the diptych I've been discussing when combining the two sets of photographs.
I'll be reshooting the bottom shoot to better match the lighting in the top photo.
I'm stuck on finding a way of blending the top layer into the second later, as you can see I started blending the wall into the skin on the right, or should I just leave the crisp line of the wall versus the skin, and just blend the head into the top picture only?
I'm also working on iMovie now that I have it.
And I'm going to take an adventure over to the pajama factory this week for some photoshoot ideas.
Stay tuneddddd

Joseph Troxler .4
It has been a long two weeks for me. A lot of personal issues have caused me to spend more time away from working on my pieces than id like to admit. I have, however, been spending more time researching, taking photos for reference, and setting under drawings for my paintings. At the beginning of this semester my thought was to not research on fear, to do the least amount of research possible to make it the most personal.
After feeling like some of my ideas were growing stagnant I felt like research was a good option to get the creativity flowing. I began researching fear, what people were really afraid of according to university studies. Then I dipped into crime statistics, which were extremely fascinating and also frightening. The merger of these two areas of research have provided a much needed breathe of fresh air to my work, and my thought process for this thesis.
Going forward I will continue to research my topics, but remain set on encompassing my personal fears and anxieties. My opinion has shifted on research because of the much needed weight it brings to what i'm creating. Personal experience is no longer suitable to be the sole source for my work because the level of intricacies interwoven into some of my concepts. It will take the minds of far more educated people than I to provide a more stable foundation for my concepts.
Below you can see three pieces still in progress, and mostly sketched out. The top piece can be viewed in the round, and will have the same images on the other sides. The middle image is a portrait of my younger brother. The majority of this painting will be hidden by panes of wood, forcing viewers to peek into any areas they can, or wish to, in order to view the painting. The last image is of a single piece, three laptops, which have been the heart and soul of my research lately. I'm not planning on sharing the details of this piece entirely until it is ready to be shown.

Hey ya'll,
So I've got two paintings kind of "done." Done, as in, the entire canvas is covered. Still need an obvious amount of work to be done. Thanks for all the critiques on Thursday. You guys are very helpful. I appreciate it immensely.

So as you guys know from the presentation, i've been really diving into the photography aspect of the idea I'm getting at for my project. I think using photoshop really helped out emphasizing the message i'm trying to portray since i can edit out certain things to be black and white and the subject to be colorful. Throughout the next few weeks I'm going to be doing a lot more photography with people with their phones. Besides my photography My drawings have been paused for a week but i am sure to get a jump on it tonight.

So unfortunately you guys only got to see a really laggy video but from this last scene that you all saw it's going to lead into some type of weird ritual/sacrifice. So yeah. It's gonna get weird.
As for the other video I started this will probably end up really depressing. I have no exact storyline for this one yet.

I don't have much to say, I'm just chugging along. I still have three oil paintings to bounce between, although I've been focusing on just the lungs one for a while. I'm on a roll for it, so it'll probably stay that way for a bit. I love the iridescent paint, but it kind of gets lost easily when it's mixed in.
I also finished up my second marker piece. Not sure how I feel about how visible the marker strokes are; I got some good advice about it in critique though. I used vellum paper instead of illustration board for this one, so the ink didn't soak in as well. Luckily I have more illustration board so at least two more animal "portraits" will be on that. I might even try to use a wood panel, and I still have the Yupo paper that's been a little neglected. We'll see. It's really nice to have something smaller to be able to work on in my room when I'm too tired to go to the studio after classes.
Connor Post 2.5 Update WIP
Well Kurt is coming along. He's got his chub tummy and thunder thighs, next up will probably be a booty and then some scrawny legs. I'm still not sure about the upper body, but eh... oh snap no I just got an idea. Reminder to self STG

11 Hours Later and the code is cracked, problem resolved and all it took was 3 cups of coffee, an iced tea and some tears.

Started using gesso on the fabric to give it more of a textural look. I also just bought the materials to start making my body molds which is what I will be working on this week.

Now what?
26 hours in and soon you forget how tired you were. It feels like you're about to hit the finish line but really, you're just crossing the starting line. I don't have words for where I'm at or where I'm about to go but I'm here right now and I know what it took. So I'm okay with it.
There's so much I want to do. So much I want to create and there is not enough time in the day. My mornings are blending with my nights and I'm dreaming about my artwork.
Letting it grow and speak to me is the hardest thing I've come to learn and I'm still learning.
I have this expectation of what I want it to be and it's becoming its own thing.
So I set it free.

Rachel's 3rd post
Some work from my other idea dealing with female injustices. I haven't done much editing yet (and obviously I have much more work than I am posting for it). These particular images deal with rape and I will be doing more work dealing with different issues as well. As always feedback is welcome!

I've been working on movement between my scenes so we aren't stuck in just one scene. It's easier to understand by actually watching my animation but these are still images on the movement I added. The first image zooms out and then moves to the right into the clouds an sun. I don't think I explained that well but I tried.
