Here is my progress from my first day of actually drawing. All of the stuff on the left is really more for placement, although I've started the one building right on the edge of the wall and it is more or less following the same design. I'm planning on having the Victorian part of the city- the left- go all the way up on the left, and possibly even mixing in some of the modern part of the city. I'm especially considering putting my favourite hedgehog graffiti I saw in that area on one of the buildings. The bottom left, particularly that arch way, is going to be where I have the Jack the Ripper stuff. I'm also going to include a Golem from Jewish mythology because that part of London was the Jewish part back then and there is a lot of evidence that Jack the Ripper was probably a Jewish man. Down on the right bottom I'm going to have sort of story of Mithra, who was a Persian god stolen by the Romans. There was a temple for him in Roman London. I also have plans for putting the City of London dragon in the sky somewhere. I'm pretty happy with the imagine so far, although I'm a little sad at how the one building looks incredibly crooked- I think it's because of the way the one behind it sits (because you can't see the actual edge, so it looks like it's also crooked). I'll have to see how it ends up looking- I liked when it was slightly crooked, but I'm not so sure now. Also, in the part that I've started on the left, I've been doing the Victorian buildings in my two different shades of brown pen, which I think looks really neat so far in contrast, although I'm not sure how much of the line drawing will really be visible in the end on that side because I'm planning on doing more painterly stuff on that side. I'm glad I started with this part of London first because there is a lot to choose from, but it's not my favourite part of the city because I know I'll get better at these pieces as I go. I doubt anybody but Seth is even going to read this so I'll just stop rambling now! :)
