So far, my work has been primarily research, and I've started to dive into outlining the actual concepts I want to pursue. I started my piece that focuses on the African Black Rhino, the majority which dwell in South Africa. I want people to see the difference between the beautiful magnitude of healthy creatures, in sharp contrast with what humans have done to them -- massacred, mutilated, and destroyed countless animals -- all for a little bit of rhino horn that is valued higher than gold in today's markets. All of the medium sized pieces will be done in oil paints.
I've sketched out a few of my other ideas, and will start laying out backgrounds on my other boards this weekend, and hopefully dive into the mural of the eyes soon. A lot of my ideas are still developing though, so I can't say with any certainty which direction they'll go in at the moment. I would like to do at least two more pieces like the Rhino piece, that focus on animals of the Sumatran tropical forests (elephants, orangutans, rhinos, and tigers), as well as the Western Lowland Gorilla.
