     Okay, so it's been a while since I last posted. I've been working on multiple pieces at one time. As of right now, I am working on one piece entitled, Definition of a Black Women. In today's society, I feel like black women, are the number one race and gender looked down upon. And from other views, there are always negative words used to describe us black women. So with this piece, I decided to do a repetition of a black women and will be using positive words to describe black women over all. So with that, the words will overlap the image. Yes, the image will get lost with words, but the main point is to have the words stand out.
Next Project: My next project idea is entitled, The Value of Our Generation. I've started working on this project in my painting class. I'm not going to elaborate on that idea, but here a start.

Nicole's 5th Post

Guys, I've been on a role adjusting and making more art. Things were going well. Too well. As I was cutting illustration board, the tip of my favorite xacto knife snapped. There were tears.

Besides that tragedy (and the fact that I realized we don't have much time left, activate panic mode), my project has been coming along nicely.  My ink pieces are almost complete, just need to mount them on the illustration board and add more support with wood. I'm feeling great and excited about these pieces as well

My last series, Lyco meets Harco, is still a slight struggle. At our last critique, I feel like I didn't get solid feedback and was stuck on where to go next. Right now, I'm in the process of transforming them so that they're more comic book-y/like illustrations. We'll see what happens.

Early October I wrote this and never actually posted about it:

I have been having the strangest reoccouring nightmare dream thing. If you know me, I take pride in my teeth. I floss, whiten, never had a cavity (knock on wood).... Yeah I care alot about my dental hygene.
Lately, I have been having this nightmare about losing my teeth, which is apparently super common. A minute or two after I woke suddently last night and tried to gather myself, I realized that this is something that I'm thinking about....


Fast forward to last night and I had the SAME DAMN DREAM.  I am honestly freaking myself out beyond compare. So... going to try to find a way to black out my teeth in a non hillbilly like fashion.


On top of this, the last week has been filled with numerous medications and doctors appointments. I was diagnosed with laryngitis and a severe upper respitory infection, and I, just today found out that my knee cap has been floating around my leg, causing alot of swelling.

I AM TOTALLY OVER THIS.

Since I couldnt breathe, I obviously could not do a series of underwater photographs.... But I did start looking on Vimeo for inspiration.

I am suffering well. I am Lycoming.

Nam's update no. 4

Following up on the previous post, below are some of the examples I have been working on for the "lost benefits" concept.

First one is rather fleshed out. However, I'm considering either changing the visual to make it look actually tacky, or altering the tone of the copy to make it more positive. The caption (i.e. Out of Style, Out of Mind) can also be rather confusing, so that's likely to change as well.

I also had the idea of a person annoyed by a jungle of hands surrounding them, kind of playing on the idea that touching can sometimes be inappropriate even for blind people who need to feel things out.
Which, after I talked with some others about, appeared to be a risky demonstration - one that would likely offend people.

So I came up with a different visual: a blind person getting thrown out of a bar. Inappropriate touching seems more likely as well as more accidental in this context, so offensiveness is less of a concern. However, I'm not sure if the visual is straightforward enough for snap comprehension. The below image is WIP - I need to add some other elements to show it's a blind person. That said, there's also a chance I'll throw it out.

yo the 5th blog!!

Hey guys so, what have I done sine we all met, well I have done research and have ordered materials to begin printing and the mini lights, to put together.
Other than that, I have the same work from yesterday, ill post them just in case you guys didn't get a good luck at them.  Today I will continue to work on what I want to print on the transparent paper and redo the parts of my portraits where the writing is not the best or take out over all.
I can't wait to show my final project!

Nicole's 4th Post

I'm happy with the way things have been turning out. My main issue is convincing myself everything doesn't need to be exactly perfect, precise, and clean. I'm taking a break from all of my digital work for awhile to focus on my ink pieces. I'm excited about these the most, it's been awhile since I've picked up a paintbrush. Still debating whether or not I want to add color.
