Cathrin- Skin work

I've been working on overlaying the skin on the barbie and I'm really liking how they are turning out. So this is the first picture I showed at our last critique that I haven't been working on so much because I'm not sure how to deal with the mesh but I'll get there.

The last one is by far the farther done. All I have to finish is the right hand and fix the lighting to my liking. I am getting a hang of how the process works but it was definitely slow to start. I'm hoping to pick it up as we finish the semester and have more pictures filled covered in real skin for our final critique!

Hayden - Post Number Whatever

Hello world, just thought I would update you on my current status of work.  I finally got to build the mounts for my pieces, I've only done two so far.  But I've started on the third one.  I have them clipped to the wood right now, I just recently bought the wallpaper adhesive.  That will be happening soon.
First one clipped on to the mount.

Here are the two together, I like them next to one another better in this space.  You can also see the base of the third one.

Here it is in the actually space.  I think I need to try a different corner, I don't like this one.  I also do not like the wall pieces on the actual wall.  I think I will also build mounts for these.  I like the 3D effect, but I will get suggestions from people as to what to do for this in class.  But I think everything is going to be mounted.

On the refrigerator I am planning on making magnets from my old pictures as a child.  I'm going to make them more satirical (I think) or like memes.  This is one image I will be making a magnet.  I'm going to depict different aspects of my life onto these images, like religion, not having a father, and other aspects.
For this one I am going to make my younger self look like the Virgin Mary, maybe, the plan might change.

I do not have any images on my blanket but the transfer process is slow since it is much larger but it is working well.  After I get all the images on I have to put a gloss on top to make the actual image come out more.  I'm figuring out if I want to bring my bed down or if I want to buy one.  I've heard American Rescue Workers have some for cheap.

Jenn-post #6

So I sort of lost track of the blogs as well and hopefully this was the week to do them. I've been doing the same old same old. Just uploading pictures and editing them.
I did get this nice new binder with all these attachments:) so now everything is nice and organized
And here are just a few un edited pictures I've taken. I'm also still featuring a before and after in my power point.

Elizabeth Hughes Post 5?

I think I've completely lost track of these things. We'll just say this is my next one and hope its sort of on time. In any case, I've been continuing with my project. There's not a ton to say other than its growing and I'm happy with it. The work has become one giant, weird, visual diary and I'm perfectly fine with that! Here's some pictures of worked on areas.

I'm happy with what's going on and its rather fun! I like a challenge. We'll see where it all ends up!

Bryan McGinnis post 5

Hey everyone,
Lately I've been thinking about how crazy awesome this semester has been for me. My focus is on point and yet a little obsessive. I'm really happy about where I am right now with my project; however, I see the next 3-4 weeks as crunch time. There is sooooo much more I want to do and need to think about prior to this semester ending.

My to do list as goes-
  • Cut up and apply sand & rock like substance
  • find images of the mothers
  • create inkblots of the mothers as well as more for Abe and JFK
  • Think about framing
  • Ask myself a series of questions for what and how I want to present this project and if I am restricting myself
  • Finish off artist statement
  • finish artist research
There's probably a lot more but I'm going to pretend I have it together for now lol

My ceramic piece is tied together but wont be fully pieced together until I finish the center wood. The second I have this piece done I will drive into turbo mode for my second ceramic tile piece. As I placed the tiles together I think all my fears slipped away to make room for my excitement. Fears are setting back in as I approach the wood tile.

Heads up: I will soon be extremely emotional due to the anniversary of the lords assassination, aka JFK November 22, 1963

I thought today was Lincoln's assassination but it's April 15th not Nov. 15
I mentioned I wanted to work larger and Seth was gracious enough to let me have a large canvas. While tarring it apart I discovered a treasure. An old painting Seth had done for a community theater.

Progress on this board. I haven't decided what I will do further to this but for now I will continue to build up on this.

Lindsay Myers - 5th Post

I'm chugging along fairly well.  The feet, torso and neck should be easy enough, though I'm worried about the face as it's not only crucial, but highly detailed and will undoubtedly be difficult because I've never done anything like it before.

Imma force myself to finish the whole sculpture before I start tearing it up.  I dunno, most of the stuff is accurate and no one ever mentioned it as a problem, but the back end is really bothering me and the front end to a lesser degree.  I think maybe they're too defined and need to be softened and greater nuances added?  Whatever the reason, they look super funky.  I'm not happy and it's hard not to take a hacksaw to it.  Which I will do as soon as I actually figure out what the problem is.

Or maybe it's mental and it just looks wrong because I made it so I'm seeing lots of problems that aren't there.   Either way, I'll need more feedback in the future from lots of different people to figure it out.

As much fun as this is, I am really nervous about trying to bring my other sculpture to this level of completion.  I'm sure it'll go a bit faster because now I have a better idea of what I'm doing, but this one took so long and I'm not even fully happy with it, so I kinda don't want to invest all the time just to have it be crap when I could be perfecting this one.  Though I should probably have two so there's a better chance of something getting in even though they'd be similar.  But what happens if I don't get in?  If I don't graduate because some old dude is pretentious and hates my piece and ends up being the reason for that I'll be beyond pissed having just wasted 4 years of my life and being tens of thousands of dollars further in debt than if I had just went straight to some menial, low-level job outta high school like I planned.

Post Number Something - Hayden

Hello,
So I'd like to say my project is coming along fairly well.  In the beginning of the semester I made pillows with family portraits on them.  My original idea was to have them displayed on a couch, just because I have a couch in my space, but after talking to Anthony I now have a better idea.  I'm going to mix both real and recreating/fake family portraits together and create a bed set.  Pillows, decorative pillows, comforter, the works.  Because I have these family portraits displayed on the place where a family is made.  I'm either A.  Bringing my bed from my home or B. Going to find a bed for the space.

So I've been having my grandfather sending me pictures of our family and I decided on using this one.  I used Photoshop to make it huge and I added a layer of text on top to describe the scene.
Here it is without the extra borders.

So after using all of my print count, I got my fabric to tea stain, and I used about 20 - 30 tea bags in a bathtub filled with hot water.  The bathroom smelled pretty good after.

I thought process looked really interesting.
But it looked weird just sitting there.

Took about 42 hours to dry completely.

The transferring for the blanket will take a long time due to the process.

So on the other hand my paintings for the installation piece is almost complete.  I had to buy more paints, and honestly the process is so much easier now.  I'm almost done with the last painting piece, I just don't have that documented.  So I will be able to start building the pieces to prop it up.  I have not done that yet because I am still determining how far I want the pieces to be away from the wall.
This is just an up close look at my door handle.  I think it is nifty.
Here is the recreated dishwasher featuring my feet.
And another view of the pieces together.
I am planning out how I want to interact within the space, I know I want to create a video to have displayed in the corner of the kitchen, but I'm trying to figure out what I want exactly.
