This is what I've been up to lately.
With taking the criticism of becoming more in tune and involved with my backgrounds, I have created two sculpture plaster molds to incorporate in my photography/art series.

I used plaster, sanded it smooth, spray painted them and then used make up to create the bruising on the bodies.

They remind me of greek statues, modernized by the bruises and I'm really happy with them.

I've probably spent more time in the studio than in my room the last two weeks. I've been trying to get as much done as possible in the time I have. I'm finally working on the third layer of my first self portrait, and have began drawing my second self portrait. I have decided that I am going to try and achieve realistic portraits in other mediums as well. I'm hoping to begin on these other pieces shortly. As for now, here is my progress up to date:

P.S. Seth also let me use some really cool paints that I was able to mix into a gorgeous color palette. THANK YOU SETH!

The past two weeks have been pretty productive. I have begun painting, nearly finished building my largest piece, and began progress on a new one. My concepts are coming together better than I could have hoped. Finally being able to see some of my ideas become a reality is very reassuring.
Getting comfortable with casein paint has been much easier than I anticipated, creating a rather quick workflow, with very positive results in just a week. focusing on finalizing some of my ideas has been paramount throughout the past two weeks. With constantly thinking and rethinking work, it can get tiring trying to settle on something.
The largest piece in my series of work has changed some in the past few days. Not necessarily in a physical manner, but in it's conceptual approach. following the results of this years presidential election, I decided to make this piece about the embodiment of the emotions that flooded over me because of the wave of fear that was suddenly thrust upon this nation. I feel moving forward making this piece political, with roots in fear will be a powerful statement among my work. It will definitely stand out from the more personal pieces I have been building.

Here are a couple of my works in progress that I have been focused on the past two weeks.

I'm closing in on finishing this painting, and I'm really happy about it. Once this one is done I just have to force myself to come back to the other two. I should be on track to finish the paintings I've started by the end of the semester, as well as at least two or three more animal portraits. I have ideas for at least two more paintings, but I'll probably wait until next semester to start them so I'm not too overwhelmed. Here's some sketches of more animals:

"I should not have eaten that balloon"

"I don't want to be in your throat either"

"I sound like a dying child"
