I've got several things done and started so far. The sewing is almost done, I just have the third jelek (vest) to finish up and then I can start planning and working on the embroidery and applique (I'll be running Joann's at some point this week). Here are some of the jeleks as well as a glimpse at the cutting and sewing in process.
I've also been planning out my prints so I can start the etchings and reliefs as soon as my materials get in. Things might shift or move in the process, but at least there's a start.
I've also been toying with the idea of printing inside the jeleks on a separate appliqued piece. I'd be depicting the three big political players during the war: Izetbegovic, Milosevic, and Tudjman and each of their portraits would be in TV screens. The TV will be a separate block print and three depictions will also be separate which will be a quicker and more efficient printing method for me. And all these blocks will be on linoleum, like the main prints.
For your convenience I'll show you my reference pictures for this since I haven't got the sketches really done for this.
Alija Izetbegovic: Political leader before and during the war, representing the Muslim citizens of Bosnia- Herzegovina.
Slobodan Milosevic: President of Serbia
Franjo Tudjman: President of Croatia
